For new barristers, finding the best place to complete your reading year can be one of the most important steps you will take in your career. After all, life at the bar is a vocation and starting your time at the right chambers can provide the skills and support you need to develop a successful practice.
Greenway Chambers has more than 50 barristers at different levels of seniority. Each year it offers the opportunity for up to two new readers to join us for their reading year: one after May’s Bar Course and one after September’s Bar Course.
As a reader, you’ll have access to your own accommodation and the floor library, as well as an online subscription. You can also use the chambers’ extensive facilities.
Over the 12 months you spend at Greenway Chambers, you’ll be encouraged to build relationships with members and to seek feedback from a diverse range of barristers.
To apply for a readership, Greenway Chambers must receive your application before 31 January for a May readership or 30 June for a September readership of the preceding year.
You can apply at any time however, applications are assessed a minimum 12-15 months before readerships commence and awarded 12 months prior to the start date.
